Oh and how is Intermediate class going to be done? I'm pretty sure SCR isn't doing one like this. Since I can't make the Black Lake event, I think you Intermediate guys should just run the open classes or pro. There's no sense in you guys extending your points lead on me or anything. What fun would that be?! So far my lead is pretty far ahead as it is

I hate the Registration process for SCR!!!!!!!! they will not let you register without prepayment for this event in our REGION we need to control the running of the event. NOT SCR!!!SCR, I am sure has asked the CCR board of Director's to use our site? they owe me money from last year and have not got my money or credit, I hear they have had a few accounting problems I don't trust them with my credit card info. I want to pay on site like i do for a CCR event that this is suppose to be. Rob Falkner sure they will Rob... I did .... I always do I would like to see us both have the same registration site.

I had to back out of an SCR event last year that I pre-paid and 1 email to Kelly and I got a credit that I used later in the year.

Personally, I'm just glad to have an event at black lake, regardless of who is running it. With BMW not being a very reliable location, its the closest SCCA event to me. Driving a Street Prepared car to charlotte once a month is expensive... on my back and hearing, lol.

I've hit on the topic of why CCR doesn't run at Michelin before, so I'll do it again...
Yes the site is in Central Carolinas Region, not South Carolina Region. At the time SCCA was able to get back to the site CCR was not able to put on an event there for several reasons, SCR was. The CCR Board of Directors gave SCR the approval to host events at the site. There was NOTHING done that was underhanded, sneaky, it was all above board. There was no stealing of the site. CCR and SCR agreed that it was in the best interest of the SOLO community to have SCR host the event there.
You may ask why doesn't CCR put on an event there now? One simple reason is cost. It's about the same cost to put on an event at Michelin as zMax. CCR makes the choice to use zMax as it is more centrally located within the region and to the CCR SOLO community. If CCR does put on an event at Michelin you'll likely lose a zMax event as a result. The club has to make the right financial decisions to keep the programs up and going.

Actually it is more to put an event on at Black Lake. Adding Porta Jons and more transportation costs to get the gear to and from Laurens. Also the site costs more money now after the repave. You are looking at a cost that is significantly more than zMax.

Any good places to stay in Laurens?

Lol, only thing good in Laurens is the Michelin Proving Grounds. You'll be much better off looking to nearby cities for hotels. Simpsonville is a 30 minute drive; I would recommend staying there.

Why are some people booking hotels? It's only about an hour and half from South Charlotte? I can understand the Asheville and Triad crowd.

no big deal for the Asheville crowd .... it's closer than going to any of the Charlotte events

Installing a new rear sway bar tomorrow. Testing out the new handling for the first time on a wet coarse should be interesting. I might have to steal TBall's nickname, "Spin Cycle", for this event.

Starky. You will have to try real hard to out spin me at black lake. We had a love hate relationship. I'm sure there are still some photos hanging around showing my car covered in dust and sand. That cmp sand and black lake sand reproduced in my car for months Ps car is ready thanks to mark. Ill be looking to get my feet wet. Take it easy on me guys. I've been Mia all season

It's dry in my living room now, finally! Holy Precipitation Batman! Black Lake earned its nickname this weekend! Michelin appears to have done an AMAZING job with the repave, and I can't wait to see it in the dry. I can only imagine what the grip level would be like.

Holy Precipitation Batman! Agreed!! It definitely lived up to the name 'Black Lake'. Looking at it from the waiver are it honestly looked like a lake. And despite all that wet the grip was great. Credit to Michelin for excellent site and upkeep and, in my case, the ZII's again on their design.

Good times despite the weather! I would also love to see that surface in dry conditions. Hopefully CCR will be back next year also.

Nice to see everyone. After spending the day in the rain, we arrived home - 5 hours later - to ice and snow, up here in VA. Long day. But thanks to the people who made the event run really well, with a fun course, in spite of the conditions. Thanks also to the Michelin folks for having us.

A HUGE thank you to Doug and Jonathan Bennett and T-Ball for handling the early morning waivers despite the adverse conditions of rain, darkness, cold, logistics and a sick as a dog waivers chief. Feeling lots better today after rest, fluids and meds. I'd help you guys dispose of a body any time! Hope you all had great runs and a great time in spite of the conditions. Again, you guys are the best!

Chris and I go way back when we were delivery drivers for Dominos. Fun times. Now you know why he can drive so fast.
