Regarding Dave Brown and Keith Taylor's inspection offer. That price includes putting your car on a lift, checking underneath, and giving you the type of inspection that's really related to track events.
For reference, Keith will be at the event that weekend, driving his Fiat X19 in the Track Trials (and if you can keep an X19 running, you must be a good mechanic).
Dave Brown is our Chief Tech Inspector for all our road racing events. If you go to Dave's you'll probably come away with a bunch of useful knowledge on how to set up your car (esp. Mustang's and Miata's). And I expect that if you have your car dyno'ed at Dave's, he'll throw in the inspection.....

Where are Dave Brown and Keith Taylor located ??
Phone #'s would be nice also if available !!
Also, can a car that runs in SOLO class G Prepared (because of no bumpers, no heater, no rollup windows, a non standard cam, moded suspension, etc etc.) BUT is registered for the street, and street legal attend the PDE ??
It's a convertable, but the top won't fit because of the rollbar being too tall....Can I attend the PDE ??

Did they ever get a PayPal account set up so we can pay with credit cards? I'm not going to have cash for the entry fee until I get paid next Friday (3/31).

The powers that be are working to get PayPal setup. I really thought it would be done by now, but it's taking longer than expected. The board approve this direction over two weeks ago. Working to get it done.

It is now only a few days away from registration deadline. Is it safe to say that the paypal account is not being set up?
If this is so, is the only form of payment by check through mail?
Can we pay in person at registration Friday evening and Saturday morning?

I still have not been told anything about my tires. I don't have any money to buy tires so I only have what I've got now. That makes it kinda important to know.
I will be going to the CCR meet at Hickory Tavern Monday evening. Hopfully I can get some answers there.

I've got another question about the PDE. It states that the driver and passenger seats need to have the same restraints. I currently have a 4-point 3" harness on the driver's side and was planning to reinstall my 3-point 2" harness on the passenger side. Do I need to forego this and just use the stock belts, swap the harnesses so the 4-point is on the passenger side or what?

Shane - I would say that is correct.. Of course, you can put it in and let the instructor tell you what to use (assuming you keep both the factory and race belts in).
Stock belts are ok however - so you can just show up with those.

Another question about belts: I thought that any type of multi-point harness required using a harness bar for mounting the shoulder straps (something about the downward angle of the straps). Is it possible to use a buckle-in style harness in a manner that is both legal, and more importantly, safe?

Well darn, I was wanting to use my 5 point 3" harness. I guess if I get signed off to go solo I can, but with the instructor it looks as if I cannot.

Questions on belts: It is desired that both seats have equal type of belts. If you have every been in a car with unequal belts, you do not understand how much you can be thrown around inside the car, while the driver has no clue as to the issues this generates. It may seem unfair, but until you walked that mile, you don't always understand. As to the mounting of belts. Issues arise in streetcars. Ideally, the belts can be mounted using the same mounting points used in the back seat. The angle concern becomes an issue during rollovers. Too much strap, allows the user to shift more. The closer to the seat the better.
I realize that as a streetcar, not every issue can be resolved to meet the GCR. Nevertheless, I want to assure you, we understand and will work to a fair and safe solution.

It may seem unfair, but until you walked that mile, you don't always understand. I completely understand the reason for the rule (harnesses make the driver feel more confident and thus they push harder which necessitates similar setups for the passengers), I just wanted to verify how it would be handled. Would my "2-inch 3-point driver side / 3-inch 4-point passenger side" scenario still be acceptable (since the instructor gets the "better restraint" setup in that scenario)? That way I would at least have *some* sort of harness on. Fortunately, I recently added a 4-point rollbar (with welded-on harness bar) to my car, so this won't be a problem for me now. Another unrelated question:Who do I need to make the check out to? CCR-SCCA? Dick McCollister? CCR April PDE? (All those terms appear in the documentation for the registration form but there isn't a "make check payable to:" statement anywhere.)

Ok, so what do you guys think of the PDE program now? Was it worth it or what? I was running with the TT group in the old Formula Ford but it looked like ya'll had a blast and many miles of track time. We had a great time and my bud George Bowland had the quickest time at 1:38 something. Fully 10 seconds quicker than me although I was 30 MPH faster on the straights. That is an amazing little machine.

(I'm still very disappointed that no one ever saw fit to answer my check question above, though. Fortunately, I had found the answer elsewhere from other sources. {sigh})

I want to thank my instructors and all the workers for a great PDE event at CMP.
I had a great time and learned quite a bit considering it was my first time on track. I really enjoyed being able to run the whole CMP course.
Again, thanks Dick & Coy; you guys are great.

Scott "Righty" Franklin www.NutDriver.orgYou sucked... hehe...j/k Scott. ;D I thought you did a great job as an instructor. When it came to filling out the evaluation, I honestly couldn't think of anything bad to say about you. BTW, the 24.5 min video I posted in the "CMP Solo 2006 Media" thread (the 4th post in that thread) was the first session I did after you signed me off to run solo on Sunday, if you were wondering how that run session went.
