I may have to postpone my hopes of TTs for a few months. Finances just arent looking good right now. Im spending too much money preparing the car for Solo competition, I havent even started getting the safety gear yet for TTs.

UPDATE: Crap...I just realized that the Nashville TT is opposite the Wolf Ridge Hill Climb. Just remember that you will need to have a full TT licence to run Wolf Laurel Hill Climb. No Novice licenses.

Just remember that you will need to have a full TT licence to run Wolf Laurel Hill Climb. No Novice licenses. I had figured as much (as most hill climbs follow the "full comp license only" rule), but wasn't sure...thanks. I know some others that were curious about that. I'm not planning to run the hill climb, but I'm probably going to be crewing for someone who is.

I have 3 question:
1) Does the April 7-8 CMP event include a PDX (or PDE or HPDE or whatever they're calling it these days) that uses the full track?
2) Fall CMP event -- same question as above?
3) Does CCR have any other track events planned for 2007?

1 & 2) Last I heard the April event will be a Track Trials / Club Trials split track event and there won't be a fall CMP event (see czrider's post about halfway down page 2 of this thread).

So no full-track PDEs at all this year?

At CMP from the SCCA, apparently not. However, keep in mind that the safety regs for Club Trials is about 99% identical to those of the PDX events. BTW, Shane, I don't know if you built your tire trailer or bought it, but check out my tire trailer question in the General Forum, please.

That REALLY sucks After doing the full track last year, I'm not the least bit interested in doing half, even if it is a timed competition. Oh well, looks like I'll be getting a NASA membership this year.

At last nights social Bryan Gause and I talked about the April event at CMP.
There sill be a time trial / track trial on the "fast" part of CMP. There will be a club trial on the "autocross" part of CMP.
A club trial is pretty much an autocross on the track. Speeds are kept to highway speeds, instruction on the first run is required. After that you're on your own.
SNELL SA certified helmets are REQUIRED.
The price looks to be pretty affordable (will announce when I get the ok from Bryan).

CCR isn't doing one at CMP for many reason, like the cost of putting on the event, low entries so the event didn't break even, car wear and tear (CMP is hard on brakes)... there are others, but I won't get into them. NCR is putting on a HPDE (SCCA speak for PDX) at Rockingham. Not sure how NASA does it and does well. Maybe we need to attend the event, even as spectators and get ideas...

SA helmets required for both Club and Track Trials, or just Track Trials? Edit: The reason I ask is that the 2006 Rulebook requires M95 or better for Club Trials and SA00 or better for Track Trials (along with driver's suit and other fire resistant clothing), and I was wondering if this is a change in the as-yet-unreleased 2007 rulebook.

In 2007 I believe that the M95 helmet is now to old for use in any TT/PDX event.

From the Club Trials section of the Time Trials rules:
3.2.3. Driver Requirements and Responsibilities 3. Dress appropriately. Minimum apparel shall be long pants, long sleeved shirts, and shoes which fully cover the foot at least to the ankle. Additionally, helmets which meet Snell M-95 requirements or better are required. These helmets may be open or full face style. If full face helmets are used, it is recommended that airbags be disabled for the duration of the event. In the case of race-prepared (non street legal) cars, it is recommended that students be fully covered by at least one layer of an accepted fire resistant material (listed in GCR Section 17.23).
Level 3 starts the SA helmet requirement.

I would like to do a PDX. I have never done any track events and would like to learn.

Since Level 1 (PDX) and Level 2 (Club Trials) use the same helmet rule as Solo (i.e., M/K/SA of the most recent or two previous specs), the M/K/SA 95 helmets should be legal until the end of the 2010 season. Level 3 (Track Trials) and Level 4 (Hill climbs), however, only allow SA and only allow the current and previous spec (so SA2000 or SA2005 only).
EDIT: Actually the TT1/2 rules aren't worded *exactly* like the Solo rules, it just says "M95 or higher" in the 2006 TT rule book. I would assume from this they are implying the same ruleset as Solo (otherwise it would have been SA2000 or higher like the TT3/4 rules), but it isn't worded as such. I have no clue whether the 2007 TT rules will follow suit either.

Got my TT novice permit in the mail yesterday (along with the updated membership card that shows TT novice on it)! ;D I didn't realize that this novice permit is actually more of a log book than what you'd normally think of as a permit (your TT schools and TT races are tracked in it like a logbook as you progress toward your TT comp license).

Regarding the helmets, my understanding is that just about every track requires a SA rated helmet, regardless of what rules SCCA has in place.

Many of the safety equipment vendors have great deals this time of year. Also I would think that the Charlotte area would have any item you could imagine with all the race shops there. CDOC is now at VIR's Pro Shop and they are based up at Charlottesville, VA. I got a new pair of $200 Sparco high top driving shoes off EBAY for a $60 bid last week. A new Sparco 3 layer suit for over $100 off, from Saferacer. The deals are out there. Also OGRacing up in the DC area are good. The best pricewise is probably Racerwholesale.

Check the For Sale Thread. I left a note regarding SoloRacer.com having specials - some are half price on helmets (M or SA2000) and gloves, shoes, etc. Also Ken with RFR has a listing there and he has always offered CCR members some great deals and some spiffy packages.

Ken at RFR has some great deals, I was amazed at how cheap some of his SA helmets were You can check out his website at www.rfrraceparts.com or e-mail or call him for specials or parts that may not be listed.

Not to openly endorse one supplier from another, but you can't beat the service and support that CCR gets from Ken at RFR on safety equipment. Shucks, he even provided me with stickers on a sunny day to act as a sunshade on my windshield. BTW - he has some great gear bags for 20 bucks or so that will hold just about everything else you buy from him. Ken is usually at every other solo event (or so) and if you contact him in advance he can get you just about anything, including seats, etc.

If you've been RR and have a current license & log book, you're good to go. TT license is about $35/yr. with your experience all it should take is a check to Topeka. Note: harnesses are good for more than 2 years in TT. Go to the SEDiv. TT Website www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/timetrials/index.html and contact Steve Tompkins, he's the SEDiv. TT Chair, for full details.

How many events must be done to renew a TT license per year, and do you have to renew a reg competition and get a TT license. I ran my ITC car in the first TT in 2001 in august, yeh it was hot, and had a ball. I hope to run more events, if time and money allow. ;D
