Well i ran in stx, and well only got one run, so wasnt a issue for me. But what happen to getting time slips. When running an event with 203 people im curious each lap of what place im in and how far off the leader i am. Hard to have a rabbit to chase when you cant see them. I know mother nature gets in the way sometimes, I think for the LARGE turn out we had the start and registration went smooth from the people i talked to. We had a couple of new friends that came out, that with out even driving i think are hooked.
Ready for that Thursday night event.... Hows next week work for you?

Try not getting any of your runs and driving 6 hours . Most of today's circumstances were uncontrollable, so I am not mad just disapointed, the best part was seeing some friends I have not seen in a while, and some I saw saturday, you are what make this sport awesome! The course looked like blast, but Nariah and I left at the start of run group 3 because of the long trip home, and let me tell you, it was that!! Sorry to find out 4th Rungroup was cancled, I am sure there are more disapointed people than you my friend.

No controlling mother nature, and I was happy to even get one wet run in on that awesome course. Just terrible that it ended the way it did; CMP is my favorite site I have ever run. I am glad that at least 1.75 run groups got to go without rain. We had a few annoying and fairly unexplained radio issues going on in the morning. And the timing display was working for the most part so you got live results despite no time slips.
Our workers trudged through the rain like champs. Thanks to everyone who worked out in the rain to allow the event to keep rolling. We all got wet, and most were disappointed by the result, but despite it all I still had fun. Always good to see everyone, sprint through the pouring rain, and make fun of the mom with attractive daughters spinning out into the mud puddles on the kart track, hahah.

Also - Worst day ever award goes to whoever went off in the black Mazda hatch. Hope that all is well with you and your car; scary few moments there. Glad that you were able to get up and going again. Never a good time when the medics actually have to earn their pay out on the course.

I enjoyed today. It's was great to have my dad with me. We don't see each other much. Good job on the course. Sorry group 4. Hope everybody had a safe trip home.

Well the club races were quiet, and the racing gods demand their sacrifice! :-\ We weren't sure what happened, just saw LOTS of people standing around staring at something that we couldn't make out.
For the "every cloud has a silver lining" bit... my first ever rain run was AWESOME! It was so much fun getting the MINI out there sliding around all over the place. I came across the line with the biggest smile on my face I've had in a long long time. I was kinda disappointed that my 2nd run was dry and my 3rd run didn't exist. Standing around in grid watching the go-karts and laughing was cool. And it was hilarious to see everyone scramble like mad back to their cars to roll up the windows and get to shelter when we heard the downpour moving across the paddock towards us in grid. It was like an old fashioned Le Mans start as everyone sprints to their car and jumps in ;D

My apologies for being part of the reason for cutting everyone's day short. Maybe the in car video will make up for some of it. Warning though, adult language...
Thanks for everyone's help on getting me out of that hole!

Awesome video, I was working the Start when that happened and didn't even know there was a ditch there until now. Lucky for you that you missed the tire barriers or it could have been worse.
On a second note is there any results out for the ones that did get to finish?

Thanks for everyone's help on getting me out of that hole! Tough luck there spilly, but thanks for sharing that video. It seems like it just would've been an ordinary spin but since the grass was so wet, your car just keep going. Hope the damage wasn't too bad and glad you weren't hurt. Also, don't feel too bad about cutting the day short. I think mother nature had more to do with that than anything. I think the 3rd rungroup would've got one more run before the rain, but still far from finishing all 4 runs. As for me, I was one of the lucky Group 4 participants and I have to say that mother nature gave me one of the biggest kicks in the balls I've ever felt. I was looking forward to CMP more than anything. After arriving at the track and walking the course, I was SO excited. To go from that early morning excitement to the disappointment I felt once everything was cancelled was tough. That was a LONG, crappy drive home. Not to mention I was still soaked from working run group 2. Anyway, I know it was tough for a lot of people, so I'm not trying to pretend I'm special. This was only my 5th event and I hadn't experienced the disappointment of a cancelled event before. Thanks to everyone that works so hard to make these things happen, I know you guys can't control the weather and I know many of the event organizers were part of group 3 and group 4, so you guys didn't get to enjoy the hard work you put in. Here's hoping for a great time at our event in June!

My hat goes off to the group 2 and 3 workers, you guys went through a lot yesterday. I was lucky enough to get two runs in group 3, but can't help but feel really bad for those who didn't get any. Hope everyone made it home safe.

I really think we should find a way to get another event at CMP. The course was great, the turnout was great, just the tropical storm wings got us.... I had a blast! And for once you all had to drive almost as far as I do for ZMax To the black Mazdaspeed 3 -> You so weren't what ended the event for us. The lightning went berzerk right after you got off of the track and any more delays would have cost the club a fortune so it got called (from what I understand). You just picked a really bad spot to slip into when it was soaking wet out. Glad you and the car are ok!

Grid looked like it flowed really smoothly through group 1 and 2. But 3 there just seems like there where way too many cars, we had grid + sort of an over flow line and then looked like 3 or 4 lines at the end. Probably goes to an imbalance in the run groups which I'm sure is quiet difficult to balance with the numbers we had.
Love the fact that it's an actual track. Huge plus for me trying to draw the younger crowd out there that you aren't "racing in a parking lot'. The gazebos are great for protection from rain and for photographers as well. Bathrooms, concessions, race gas. Only down side is it's in the middle of no where.

So when can we run an event at VIR? J/K... Seriously though this was the most fun event so far this year. Really hate it for groups 3 and 4. Although it was kinda fun watching everyone display some car control skills in the wet.
I definitely wussed out in a few spots because of the speeds I was getting up to, but man it was fun.

Tony you are right about the amount of cars in run group 3. but that didnt stop the flow of cars running at all. it was pretty crazy filing them in to begin with not knowing how many cars were coming. Once it was obvious there was a lack of room I made a change and it went smooth. As long as theres cars moving to start and we aren't holding up start then my job was completes

So when can we run an event at VIR? J/K... Seriously though ............. Several clubs use VIR's Patriot course . 1.2 miles and you only need to cone down the upper straight to stay within Solo Speeds .

Thanks for everyone's help on getting me out of that hole! Glad to hear you and the car are ok. I was the silver 3 sedan right in front of you. When I pulled back into grid after that run and saw someone else pull in I was wondering what happened...then saw the commotion on track and put 2 and 2 together. At the exact same time you crashed I spun out on the last cone of the slalom before turn 14 and went off course and took out one of the brake pylons. Guess causing havoc is a Mazda thing haha

But hats off for sending new blood out there early. But the course looked so great... I did get to ride with greg P in the black 04 sti ...man what a great driver, super nice as well, thanks man for the ride.
