I will not be there at all for morning waivers. If someone will be and wants to work the morning waiver shift, we need at least two. Please post up if you can help with this.

I think last year we did waivers at registration. .. but I would prefer to have someone at gate. .. those who don't drive don't come to reg usually so no waiver signage.... we will have takers for dure... work when it's cooler in morning not when blistering hot... I didn't get to drive last year for doing to much and getting over hot....

I'll be there Sunday night and can help you set up. I don't know anything about designing a course. Maybe use one from a prior year? There's not a whole lot of variation possible anyway.

This was my thought as well. Given the layout you're pretty much restricted to slaloms or variations on the theme, but getting the spacing right is key. I'm all for reusing a previous course.

Event chair and course setup design duties have been delegated... Who have they been delegated to? If no one can chair the event I can try and take a stab at it.

So I noticed that some comedian updated the "sponsor" section of my entry for this event. Hardy, har, har, har.... You better watch out, I've been instructing a lot of the new BRZ/FRS novices that have been coming out, so I'll have them over-driving and spinning with the best of 'em!

there's no new thread for this, so I'll leave it here ….
thanks for all the effort folk put into fixing the timing situation today … even if the first run group ends up without "real" times … the effort bordered on heroic … thank you …the course was a blast

A suggestion: If you're going to use Wi-fi to connect timing lights, use directional antennas aimed at the trailer, not omnidirectional whip antennas. South Carolina region does this. I don't think they're very expensive. You could check with someone at SCR.
That being said, I second Walter, the course was a blast, especially in my car. Lots of throttle steer, sometimes when I wanted it and sometimes not.

I too had a great time and would like to thank those who spent a great deal of time and effort to allow the event to continue. That said, I drove rather poorly and wasn't happy with my performance overall. I didn't manage a clean run, and mostly due to not paying enough attention or looking far enough ahead. Oh well, learn from it and move on.

I'm going to add my thanks to everyone that worked hard to get timing up-and-running. Even though I ran in the 1st run group and didn't get any legit times recorded, I still enjoyed myself and am still appreciative of everyone's hard work. CMP is always a blast and the course was great (even with the crazy drag strip start! lol!). Finally here's a video of what I think is my best run of the day. I pulled out a stop watch and attempted to eyeball when I crossed the start/finish lights. As best I can tell, it looks like this run may be somewhere between 71.0 and 71.5 seconds. Feel free to time it yourself and see what you think!

Thanks to all who worked on getting the timing going. I'm sure it can be a frustrating experience. The course was a blast. I was in the first run group and used the session for testing. Playing with the suspension settings made the R32 tail happy. THAT was a new experience. I think the timing worked on my first run 67.5 seconds. In my dreams. LOL

I'm glad to see everyone so positive despite issues with first group. I wasn't running for times and had a blast, but of course my nature I want times dang it lol. Walter has one of his videos up estimated at 71.9 so your timing should be accurate Joe.

I'm going to get the computers booted up after I recover and see where I can see where the problems started....to me the times look off about 30 seconds or so.. which was about our release time.... so I'm going to see what I can do.... This event is going to be a non-points event.... we added another ZMax in November so that gives us 11 total events and 10 timed ones now.... I'm glad everyone had a good time regardless of the issues.... A big thanks to those in the trailer today for working hard to get it fixed and a big thanks to Steve Eckerich for his assistance and troubleshooting... he's our club McGyver.

I must apologize to everyone for all the issues on Monday. We tested the timing system on Sunday night and everything seemed to be working ok, but obviously we missed something. A huge thanks to Steve Eckerich for helping us get the system debugged and running. It appears we had several issues happening and that made the debugging routine take a while as we had to go back to individually testing one item at a time to find out what the culprits were. I talked with Steve Eckerich and Mike Licursi later and we have put together a few things that will help to ensure this won't happen again. Steve is going to get us some formal training materials on the T-link wireless system. Many of us were under the impression that they were just "dumb" boxes that just transmit a signal and if they lose connectivity even for a second or two you will miss trips. That isn't the case. Those boxes have internal memory and have an internal clock that synchs with the other boxes. Even if they momentary lose the wireless signal they are still recording start/finish trips with a time code and will record the trip and send it once they reacquire the signal. They also won't delete the trip out of memory until they get a confirmation signal back from the receiving box that it received the data. We are also going to look into a cable tester so we can test each cable before we string up the timing system at each event. We also are going to specifically label each timing cable with its purpose (i.e. start, finish, spare, extension) This way if we know a cable was damaged at an event we know exactly which one it is when we go to repair it later during an off weekend.
As far as the times in the first run group I take full blame for that. I was the one running timing and I'm anal about always checking that the car on start is the nest car in the computer to get a start trip. I think what happened was a single missed finish trip. This would add the 20-30 second start interval to every ones times. After studying the timing data afterwards it happened after just 5 or 6 runs and it appeared to happen right when some novices were coming to the line so I just attributed it to a slow novice and it didn't click that the times weren't going back down. I know Cyndi will do her best to see if the times can somehow be fixed, but I'm pretty sure they are FUBAR. I felt so bad we had all those timing issues I decided to not run and stay available to help if we had another failure. I'm sorry for the screwed up times and if this is going to potentially foul up someones season points.

hey it happens. i actually enjoyed the course more after the change. thanks for helping out with the trailer. im sure james was very happy for that.
the fact that timing didnt have line of sight to the finish may have been a factor as well. just throwing that out there even if the times are incorrect is there enough to figure out places/results for points? or just throw out the results for only the affected classes?

I'll see what Cyndi comes up with but I don't think so as I'm pretty sure the times were a function of one cars start and another cars finish.
James and Robert were both thankful. I think Robert was going to pull it home with his Escalade, but he doesn't have a brake controller so it would have been a handful if he had to stop it in an emergency. Robert's house was only a short detour on my way home so I was happy to help. My daughter ended up keeping me out of the dog house with Anna too. She took a monster 4 hour nap which gave Anna the time she needed to get her things done before she headed out of town this morning.
