Meh, I ran out of tires and budget last season. Also I was in an uncompetitive EP car which got boring. This season I am switching back to STC and I'll have new tires on Monday. For 2013 I plan to do many more events.

Except this guy. He seems to make money from it. Earning money from businesses related to autocross is not the same as winning prize money from autocross runs. I'd like to meet the driver that can earn a living from 4 minutes of seat time each month. Not from 4 minutes (one event) but if you do 3 or 4 events a month, pick up a couple of minor sponsors and treat them right. You can cut the cost considerably.

"Cut the cost" does not equal "earn a living". Who is making enough to support themselves and/or their family by autocrossing?

Back to the original subject of improvements for 2013: Has anyone posted the 2013 classing announced at the banquet last night?

First off, I don't envy the people who are going to have to make this decision, since there will be no way to make everyone happy. That said, the only thing that will keep me from an event is lack of money or time - or both.
I personally would vote for the intermediate class as it seems like the best compromise, but I can't because it was Travis' idea. :-)
Joe did mention the downside of an intermediate class thinning out open classes even more, but I would say if the open class drivers want more people to compete against come run intermediate - you'd still be running against the same people that left your open class and could compare against them.
I think the main issue I've seen mentioned with a giant pax class is that if it runs with its base class, like novice did, it could put some drivers at a significant disadvantage (e.g. weather conditions change), so I would suggest running it like the pro class.
Ok, now I've done my part to contribute to the longest thread EVER! Whatever the outcome, I'll find a way to have fun :-P

The decision is to retain classes, but add an optional class "intermediate" for those who need more competition but do not want to run "pro.' That said, i thank Mike and AJ for thinking outside the box. the idea has great merit ,but ( in my mind) needs fine tuning. As the person deciding on monthly meetings, i feel their pain. How do we make everyone happy? I have not found the perfect night and perfect location, and this is just to socialise.
