Drivers from each club will qualify based on and compete in the Shootout based on PAX time. PAX factors will be based off of Rick Ruth's RTP. Street Tire modifier will be included for Tire class competitors ONLY. TO QUALIFY We will break down the overall results into five brackets. 1-15, 16-30, 31-45, 46-60, 61-75 The too driver in each bracket from each club will qualify for the Shootout. THE SHOOTOUT The top drivers for each bracket will go heads up best of two runs. The winner of each bracket scores a win for their club. The club with the most wins takes home the bragging rights for 2013. This should be an interesting twist.

GRRRRRR, Just realized that the BRR event at VT was moved to the same weekend as this. I have a co-driver planned for the VT event so I am not going to make it. I wanted to run a zmax too. Any idea if PCA will allow karts?

This sounds really cool.
How do we record that we're opting-in, or if you're a member of either club you are opted in by default (probably makes more sense)?
Definitely want to try to contribute for CCR.

When you come check in at registration tell whoever is in there that you are either CCR, SCR or neither... I will get in axware so when results are printed we know which one. Everyone will have a good time for sure.

Attn: Mike or any other S2000 owners...
I may need a co-drive for this event. I will supply my own wheels/tires and run in SSM. I can also supply fiddy-tree cent and a ham sammich for your troubles.
Please PM me if you can help me out. Thanks.

So the Carolina Cup is a CCR v SCR challenge and if you opt-in you get to play during the regular event and then, if you're lucky, you get to play again!!!! Cool.

Sounds awesome! Unfortunately my new wheels have been delayed so I'll still be on my completely shot and heat cycled out tires for this event, so I have pretty low expectations for my own performance. Should still be a great time though!

I wouldn't consider it opt in. You represent your club to help win the cup battle. The registrar on check in will ask you which club you are for. No matter what, you will earn season championship points for both clubs. Participants are however given the option to not represent either club for the cup battle. Examples, novices or first timers that are confused, those like Kraig Klippel that don't approve of club on club crimes, those just coming to run on our great site, they cant choose which club to represent, they think triad could beat out both regions, who knows what else.

they think triad could beat out both regions Isn't that a given? Since TSCC isn't part of the Carolina Cup I can play for CCR.

So how long will this event run? Sounds like a full day with 4 runs, and then a shootout at the end, right?
Can you discribe the shootout. Is it the top SCR car in each of the brackets vs the top CCR in each bracket for just 2 runs and done? Or is there some kind of advancement of the bracket winners to an overall winner?

You are correct. The top CCR and top SCR driver in each bracket will go head-to head. Best of 2 runs wins the bracket (and the points) for their club. 5 brackets x 2 drivers x 2 runs = 20 runs extra tacked onto the usual event. So, maybe an hour extra on the day.

Honestly, with a shootout of only 20 runs, it shouldn't take much more than 15 minutes.
And even with the shootout added, fun runs are not out of the question, if everything runs smoothly.

Well, it's at least two, MAYBE three runs per bracket. So maximum of 30 runs.
As the 4th group is finishing and people are filtering in, we'll be finalizing the PAX results and setting brackets. Add 5 minutes or so to get those 15 cars to grid and convince a few nice workers to go back out on course (maybe shuttle them out in the back of the truck) for a few more minutes, and maybe 15-20 minutes of runs. Should go quickly, really.

Sounds good.... there is a 20-25 sec interval between cars not an entire run so 2-3 cars on course at a time.

We'll try to run one bracket to its finish, so only 2 cars on course at a time, then "hotlap" them like at the Evo Shootout last year with no changes between runs.

Precisely tedbere! And like Duckles said, we will not lap the cars in the brackets. You will be allowed to touch your car between runs, but you'll be rushed. It'll be very interesting!
I'm projecting comp runs to end around 2 with Shootout shortly after. If this holds true, fun runs will be evident!
